Raft foundations

Raft foundation without strips are modeled, analyzed, calculated and drawn according to the analysis and calculation method for elastically supported slabs sitting on elastic soil.

The structural analysis of raft foundations is carried out by the finite elements method (FEM). The finite elements consist of rectangular slab pieces having 4 nodes and a degree of freedom of 12. Loads can be defined as point load on nods, or as linear load between two nods, or as uniform distributed load on raft foundation. It is possible to define these loads in any phase of the project on the slab.

The user can determine in the raft foundation setting dialog box the finite element width of each slab.

The raft foundations are then divided up into finite elements of such width as determined. The nods formed at the corner points of the finite elements are numbered by the program automatically. Now the geometrical characteristics and the loads of the rectangular finite elements are determined. The program solves the equations of the system and calculates the displacements of the nodes, and the end forces.

The moment and displacement diagrams of raft foundations can be reviewed on three-dimensional perspective representations. Together with the structural analysis of the raft foundation, also the reinforcement calculation is carried out at the same time. The arrangement of the reinforcements can be designed by the user so that besides straight reinforcements also bent-up reinforcements are inserted; but the user has also the option to design the arrangement of the reinforcements so that only straight up and strait down reinforcements are used without inserting any bent-up reinforcements; and all the drawings of the respective reinforcement and formwork plans and details are performed automatically.
